Starry Eyes: Who's Wearing What?

Which Kind of Star Are You?
Sunglasses come in endless styles, each with its own personality. Are you a beat poet? Ray-Ban Wayfarers are required gear. Big green aviator sunglasses are a must if you're a pilot, FBI agent, or one of The Village People. Huge, bug-eyed styles make you look alien - which may explain why they're all the rage in Hollywood.

Why cover up a million dollar face? We don't know, but we do know that many stars are currently wearing big, round sunglasses that provide not just style, but protection from both the sun and prying eyes.

Breaker, breaker, good buddy: big aviator sunglasses are big fashion. The retro teardrop shape graces the faces of stars and mortals alike. We've seen them on the likes of Brad Pitt, Miranda Kerr, Robert Downey Jr., and that county sheriff who just wrote us a ticket.

Christina Aguilera was nearly hidden behind her Sofaines by designer Oliver Peoples. Louis Vuitton's Suspense line shielded the face of singer Rihanna. Charlize Theron made alien-eyed Bottega Veneta look out of this world, and Katie Holmes reflects the endless horizon in her big, boxy shades from Dolce & Gabbana. Hilary Duff seems born for the giant, cat-eye-shaped Fever line from Dita.

On David Beckham's face, pretty much anything looks good. He wears wild styles from DVB and Police as if he's just daring the fashion gods to faint. And get a load of mode from Eva Longoria: just one lens of her DVB #8s would cover her lovely face. They're Sasquatch-sized aviator sunglasses, and on her they're gorgeous.

Wearing Salvatore Ferragamo, Angelina Jolie becomes Sophia Loren. In aggressive Marc Jacobs 015s, she's all hit-man. But our favorite for her is the light and airy Strummers by Oliver Peoples, which complement her face. (As if she needs any help.) Her flip side, Brad Pitt, manages to look like a gaudy tourist in whatever he wears, with the grand exception of the OP 523s made famous in Fight Club; those giant round lenses with a rose tint looked just as at home on Brad as they do on Elton John.

The latest in Cher wear is Fendi and Chrome Hearts, and her impeccable taste shows: always unique, always bold, always just right.

R Kelly goes gold and bold in Marc Jacobs 213s, with his hair dyed to match. We figure it was cheaper to dye his hair than buy more sunglasses, but we saw both his head and his specs go platinum when he donned R&G 6019s, their logo styled right into the frame.

Janet Jackson is vintage '80s, but her goggles are vintage '60s, by Dior. It happened too quickly for us to be sure, but we think one of her lenses popped out.
